In fact, he stood with all four of them firmly planted on the gravel, projecting a very clear attitude of “Nope.” Brian Crandall rubbed a gentle hand down Mr. T’s neck and murmured, “OK, buddy, it’s OK. Good boy.” Continuing to softly soothe the horse, Crandall bent at the waist to lift Mr. T’s front left hoof. It didn’t come up 100 percent willingly, but easier than it would have before Crandall began calmly talking to the clearly nervous horse. “He’s calmed down a lot, Brian,” said Kay Cook, who adopted the Morgan from a bad situation created by a contentious divorce, giving him the good life at a home north of Grand Junction. “Yeah, he has,” Crandall agreed. “He’s a good kid.” Thanks to Rachel Sauer for the great write-up!
